Performance training at Pinnacle Performance & Wellness in Lubbock, Texas is individualized strength and power programming for athletes from age eight through the professional level. Programs are periodized around the athlete's sport and competitive season, and progress is verified with objective testing including force plate and bar velocity measurement. Training is delivered in person at 8347 Upland Avenue, and remotely for athletes outside Lubbock.

The Difference
There is a real difference between a coach who watches you train and a coach who wrote the plan you are executing. Most “training” available locally is the first thing: a session gets run, everyone sweats, and nothing is progressed on purpose.
Pinnacle programs are periodized — the training year is divided into blocks with defined intent. Off-season builds work capacity and maximal strength. Pre-season converts that strength into power and sport-specific speed. In-season maintains what you built while managing the fatigue of competition, which usually means training less than the athlete wants to. Each block has entry criteria, prescribed loads, and an exit test. If the test does not move, the program changes rather than repeating louder.
Objective Testing
An athlete who cannot tell you what changed over twelve weeks was not being coached, they were being occupied. Pinnacle uses objective testing at intake and at defined checkpoints.
| Test | What it tells us |
|---|---|
| Force plate jump testing | Lower body power output, rate of force development, and left-right asymmetry that predicts injury risk and limits transfer |
| Bar velocity tracking | Whether a load is actually developing speed-strength, and when a set should end |
| Movement screening | Mobility and control restrictions that limit position, load, or safety |
| Sprint and change-of-direction timing | Acceleration and deceleration qualities, which are what most field sports actually require |
| InBody body composition | Lean mass gain during a strength block — the number that matters for a developing athlete, not scale weight |
Testing dates are on the calendar before the block starts. Athletes and parents get the results.
Youth Development
Athletes as young as eight train here, and the program looks nothing like an adult's. The evidence on youth resistance training is clear that supervised, appropriately programmed strength work is safe and beneficial for developing athletes — the risk sits with unsupervised maximal loading and with year-round single-sport specialization, not with lifting itself.
Young athletes at Pinnacle are taught positions and mechanics first, loaded progressively, and coached on the qualities that matter at their stage: sprinting, landing, decelerating, and jumping well. We will also tell a family honestly when an athlete needs more sport variety and less structured training, and when a nagging complaint should be evaluated by a Doctor of Physical Therapy in the same building before it is trained through.
Rehab To Performance
The gap that ends careers is the one between “discharged from physical therapy” and “back to full competition.” A rehab clinic clears you at a level of function that is well below sport demand, then you go back to a coach who was not part of the rehab and does not know what your knee tolerated last week.
Pinnacle removes that gap by construction. Your DPT and your performance coach work in the same building, from the same testing data, on the same athlete. Return to sport gets progressed on criteria — symmetry on force plate testing, sprint mechanics, load tolerance — instead of on a date on a calendar. For an athlete coming back from an ACL reconstruction or a UCL injury, that continuity is the single biggest determinant of whether the return holds.
Remote & Investment
Athletes outside Lubbock — including in Midland, Odessa, Amarillo, and Abilene — can train on individualized remote programming. That means a written program built for your sport, season, equipment, and training age, with video review of your lifts and regular check-ins to adjust. It is not a downloaded template with your name on the cover. Athletes who can reach Lubbock periodically combine remote programming with in-person testing days.
